Your Styrsö adventure starts as soon as you step onboard the ferry. The fresh sea air and beautiful view of Gothenburg’s archipelago provides a foretaste of what’s to come. When you arrive on the island you’re met by picturesque fishing villages, lovely walking trails and the rock formations that characterise this area. The island has a unique atmosphere, with the scent of flowering heather and fresh sea breezes, perfect for long walks or bike rides along winding paths boasting fantastic views.
A historic place for recuperation
The choice of Styrsö as destination for our hotel is not by mere chance. The island has been known as a place to come and recharge your batteries for over a century. During the 1800s Styrsö’s health promoting properties attracted city dwellers to spend their summers here, out in the archipelago, with its fresh air and inviting scenery. Sanatoriums and summer hotels were established, and many made the journey here to rehabilitate both body and soul. These days Styrsö continues to live up to its reputation as an oasis of calm and wellbeing.
